DC

Tons of sun and an overdose of monuments. Nice first impression, DC. I especially loved: the White House, Birch & Barley's tasting menu (555 artisanal beer choices), the Lincoln Memorial (despite current construction), Smithsonian's Air & Space Museum, the Botanic Garden (especially the orchid room), and shopping in Georgetown (see newly purchased yellow jeans from Tommy Hilfiger). I can only imagine how packed it's going to be next weekend when 4th of July rolls around. What a perfect four day getaway.

goodbye spring

I meant to post these photos awhile ago, but never got around to it. Even though it almost rained every single day this spring, there were a few nice days.

golden hours

I am counting down the hours until work is over, and my daily commute to New York ends. I love the city, but NJ Transit has worn me down. Can't wait for a month long vacation, going to the beach, and looking for apartments in sunny California.

Jungle Fever

After reading about the rise and fall of acai in The New Yorker (this article), I can't help but think about exotic clothing, shoes, and drinks. Between the humidity and temperature, I am desperately craving homemade pomegranate juice popsicles!

Summer Loving

You can't go wrong with red, white, or stripes. I love the plethora of striped outfits in New York (and New Jersey), especially now that it's super nice out. I've got my eye on a few things...

green addiction

It wasn't until recently that I became the biggest fan of Westfield, NJ. Between Alan's Orchard (best local produce and homemade fro-yo) and Savory Spice Shop (which has every spice you can name (and cannot name) under the sun), I couldn't say no to trying this recipe for raw shaved asparagus with lemon dressing from New York Magazine. You need to really love raw foods, especially veggies, to like this recipe. It is super light, served cold, great for summer, and easily converted into tomorrow's lunch.

In my search I stumbled across this, and cannot wait to try it as well.

Murray River Sea Salt: two thumbs up!

Ps. Did you know that Louis XIV was so obsessed with asparagus he demanded it all year round? So glad I made good use of our two-month window.

lost and found

It has been well over a week without wireless at my house. I really did not realize how much my life revolved around the internet until it was gone. I'm looking forward to catching up :)
